Suffering is an initiation into
human experience which
we can never know at second-hand.
No matter how much we see of suffering,
no matter how much we read or hear
or what others have to say about it,
there is something that cannot
be imparted. Perhaps that
was one reason why Plato
said that a physician should not be
a man who has
always enjoyed robust health.
It is only by your suffering that you are
admitted to the fellowship of pain.
