Dear Internal Revenue Service,

I know this bill is sorta late,

I know I missed your deadline date

So just because I'm not on time

I'll make you up a little rhyme.

I had a lot of fun this year, and made a lot of money

I hope you like this stuff I've sent, I think it's really funny.

You probably are all like me and sometimes you forget

Very little tiny things, just like me, I bet.

But enough about me, let's talk about you.

Where you live is the sky blue?

Have your roses turned red, is the grass green?

How by the way is your grandmother's spleen?

How is your office? Your love life? Your chair?

Your kitten? Your mortgage? Your clients? Your hair?

I'd just like to tell you that you're on my mind,

A more considerate customer is quite hard to find.

Though we haven't met, it seems we're old friends

That's why I'm writing this poem, making amends.

I know I can't run, I know I can't hide,

So about my taxes, in you I'll confide.

I'm sure you know me, my life and my specs.

I'd pay you right up, but I forgot to buy checks.

My kids have been sick, my dog ran away

So please dear old friend, be kind, I pray.

I forgot that detail, just until now

Please don't come to my door, please don't have a cow.

I plead you be patient, just keep watching the mail,

Good luck and good day, cuz I think you're swell.
